What is Pilates?
Joseph Pilates designed exercises that helped him recover from the affects of asthma and rickets. His classical exercises focus on breath, strength, flexibility and increased mind/body awareness. He developed equipment to provide more variety to these exercises including assistance or resistance. He worked extensively with professional dancers, gymnasts, and figure skaters in New York City.
