Valerie Jackson earned her Masters degree in Physical Therapy from Duke University. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University. Valerie has focused her practice on orthopedic, sports and work place injuries for the last 20 years. She has worked at on-site clinics at Sun Microsystems, Roche and at Occupational Medicine clinics at Stanford and Kaiser Permanente.
In addition to the many courses she has taken on rehabilitation of the spine and extremities, she is a Polestar Certified Rehabilitation Specialist in Pilates-based exercise. Valerie uses Pilates to enhance her manual therapy techniques and to provide challenging exercise for her patients. She uses biomechanical evaluation to treat the whole patient examining the way the foot hits the ground and its effect on postural alignment and core strength. Through patient education and functional exercise, her patients learn to care for themselves independently.
Valerie volunteers at her children’s school supporting the students, teachers and administrators to enrich the educational experience for students. In her free time, Valerie enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, playing field hockey, running and spending time with her family.
